I JUST found out how great this game is.
I can\'t believe more people aren\'t playing this, and spouting off about it!

It\'s perfect for those that have been stomped into disgruntled heaps by the GW and their \"new\" ideas.

And it hearkens back to what some of us got into \"skirmish\" games for in the first place!

I\'ve certainly played more games of Warmachine/Hordes than of WHFB/40k, but I\'ve painted more GW than PP. Yeah, it\'s tons of fun.

So what are army are you playing?

I\'ve decided to start out with the Protectorate.
I like that the tactics of the Grand Scrutator Severius are a nice mesh with my Eldar Faseer playing style.

Also, I like the figures and the \"fluff\".

I spent an hour in the only gamestore in the area and talked to three people and got REAL interested in the game.

I\'ve been die hard 40k, but I started with WFB because of \"Chaos Wars\", back in the day.

I\'ve been reading the Prime:Remix and I think it\'ll be easy to pick up. A lot simpler than GW games, and the models are as nice or nicer.

I also like how much more balanced it is.

Yeah, I really like the Warmachine rules. With all of the expansions now, though, it is starting to be a bit clunky with all the various special rules. Which is more than likely the reason they\'re planning a \"Mark 2\" (second edition) for 2010. The coolest thing is they\'re doing a \"field test\" though, from like April to December--you should be able to download the \"release candidate\" rules for Mk2 Warmachine and try stuff out.

Either way, even with some of the clunky rules from 5 expansions, it\'s still a far more fun game and feels better balanced than GW games to me. YMMV, IANAL, ETC.

Okay.
I found two cool things.

First) An Online Army Builder

Second)A Virtual Table and Minis

I have already tried them out.
I played and WON my first ever game of Warmachine with a half-painted Severius on my desk...YAY!

That online builder isn\'t bad, but nowhere near as robust as Tabletop Commander (www.tabletopcommander.com) or Armies of Immoren (sorry, don\'t have a link, but Google should find it, or you can find it in the PP forums).

I still haven\'t tried Vassal out. Maybe I should do that sometime... ;)

@JesterzUSMC: Welcome to warmachine !

Menoth is a great faction, my brother played them for quite some time before he swaped it for Circle orboros and finally Everblight.

one tip for your first games: Try Kreoss as a warcaster, one of the best (and i n my opinion ) easiest to play caster for Newbies, this guy is just amazing.

just one little warning : after 5 years Privateer Press now scheduled the release of a new Warmachine Edition with new rules and card sets, so don´t waste your money to buy one of these decks, you will have to buy one in january anyway, also there will be new Rulebooks.

So if you´re planning to buy the books for the artwork and background don´t hesitate to pick them up , they got some great paintings in it, but the rules wil only be valid till the end of the year accordin to their schedule

yep the commander programm is great: stable, frequent updates for new modells and rules and some nice features all for free.

Awesome!

I was going to run out and buy too!!

LOL.

I played my first game. I followed the advice of the game store owner, I went with Severius because he is \"Like\" an eldar farseer.

I played him like that, and I won against Deneghra!!

I only put up the link for the builder, because it was the only one I\'d found.

I will look into the others.

WOW! Great group!
