There seems some interest in this so I thought I'd do an article
Tools
you'll need a small Hand Drill, Long nose Pliers, Side Cutters, a couple of 4" nails and of course some wire
the wire I'm using is 32swg Nickel Chrome, originally purchased from Wires.co.uk, for my hot wire cutter.
It comes in various size rolls but the one I got was 50g, for under a £10, you can see it in the first pic
First things first
Firstly we need some twisted wire, so I cut off about 2m, securing the loose ends together simply by twisting them
I looped the open end over the nail and using a hand drill twisted the two strands together.
It's important to keep the wires in tension so the twist is uniform

Here's the general set-up

I have 2 nails pushed into pre-drilled holes, 500mm apart.
The pre-twisted wire is stretched between the two nails and marked off at 10mm intervals, that's just what seemed a good distance to me
Step One
take another two strands of wire, but don't twist them this time, come back about 30-40mm from the end and bend it back on itself
hook it over the twisted wire at the desired place, gripping the loose ends with your pliers
