Chinese bust
Realisation : Juillet 2008
Manufacturer: Pilipili
Here is the bust I entered in the Nation’s trophey during World Expo 2008.
Its a pleasure to paint it cause of severals parts, as the face (except the sculpt of the nose), the flowers cause its original to paint them, and of course large flat surfaces with clothes to make freehands.

I think the freehand is awesome! But the face painting, pretty nice and smooth but there are some improvements that could be made, especially for such a large scale. You could have put more shading under the blushes of the cheeks, more light on top of the lips, widening the upper lip part and not focusing the light on the ridges. You could also have added more light around the chin. On the nose you need to accentuate the difference between the bone and softer parts (cartilage) and the natural shadow that goes down on both parts of the nose bone and would make her less of a "potato nose" You should have put on some eyebrows and accentuated the lashes as well. The eyelids could have been painted more to show that there is a pair of eyes underneath, a fake 3d effect so to speak with light and shadow. The lips could have been painted fuller. A bit more lipstick (slightly) and then accentuating the shadow under the lip more but also a bit softer, bringing out the shape of the lips. Finally the black hair could have used some more contrast with sharp highlights for a Wella-shine. haha I'm realising I'm only reciting a beauty ideal but anyway. Great job as usual. Sven |

Le maquillage est très réussi tout comme les fleurs dans la chevelure mais surtout, c'est le dragon sur le kimono qui me laisse sans voix. bravo encore pour notre globe trotter national de la figurine!! |

voting on painting masterclass then its an 11.. the sculpt.. 8.. and for someone to vote 8 and then describe how they would do it.. laughable.. eyebrows? is my only question. Freehand is in the realms of a master.. |
